Righteous Riders Phase 2

It’s that time again!

With generous funding from our committed supports, NOMW would develop a new, comprehensive  summer program called Righteous Riders Bicycle Program (RRBP) for a cohort of ten (10) at-risk adolescents who would not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in structured summer programming. Programming begins right after Boston public school year ends in late June.

Mentors will take the RRBP cohort on bike rides 4 times a week in and beyond the city, using the kinds of mountain bikes that youth today are excited about. Physical activity serves to reduce stress and boredom and increase enjoyment. In addition to bike riding, RRBP will provide opportunities for mentees to engage in conversations on goal setting, reading, reflection, and story sharing, coupled with mentor-led art workshops and university student-led civic impact projects. These activities will provide an opportunity for mentees to practice social skills and responsibility to community, while building self-confidence and learning from mentors and volunteers about the value of education. RRBP will create a supportive network of mentees, mentors, and volunteer contributors that will continue to provide support after summer programming ends, throughout the funding period and beyond.

Righteous Riders Phase 2: It’s that time again!

We’re about to hit the streets again and we need your help. We’ve partnered with LANDRY’S BICYCLES this year and here’s the plan:

The goal is to purchase 10 brand new “Black Sparkle” 29'“ SE Bikes in order to keep my word to the dedicated youth who gave their time, dedication, effort, intelligence and patience in order to help me build this organization. I want to give inner city youth who could never afford these bikes the opportunity to ride amongst a brotherhood of youth who are all striving to find their way within a world that profits off of youth ignorance and violence. As we ride the city streets in search of our rightful place in society, we connect with other youth seeking the same reality. As we bond through our passion for riding the SE BIKE, we navigate swiftly through the streets on our sleek and colorful bikes, in that very moment all of our FEARS, WORRIES, INSECURITIES, PROBLEMS and BEEFS are forgotten about. I plan to keep these youth safe during these upcoming summer months.

The goal is to raise the $4,500 balance left to purchase the nine remaining bikes. The first bike is already paid for, with nine more to go! The cost of each bike is $900.00. Our partnership with LANDRY’S BICYCLES and us being a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt non profit organization has dropped the cost of each bike to $500.00 for each bike. Please help me turn my vision for the growth and development of our youth into a reality. We have a deadline of June 7TH, 2022 to raise the remaining balance.

Your tax deductible donation will go to help give a young man or woman of Boston the opportunity to be part of something greater than themselves. Are you able to sponsor the cost of a full bike or contribute $5 to collectively purchase a bike? Any donation you can give would mean the world to a mentee and offers the opportunity for them to experience the sense of freedom a bike provides.

THE STREETS LIED

A YOUTH SUPPORT GROUP

The Streets Lied (a youth support group) was only a thought within the darkness of my mind until I made the conscious choice to actualize it into reality. This support group is designed to promote self-awareness, self-worth, self-improvement and self-reformation. At one time in our past lives we existed within a negative mental state; and the consequences were extremely long prison sentences. We have made the conscious and responsible choice to change our lives for the better by isolating our minds, working rigorously on the psychological infrastructure which was the root cause of our criminal thinking and behavior. Our desire is to show other young men and women that positive change is readily available when an individual is truly sincere about changing their lives.
